How this is worked out

How long should poker blind levels be?
Fifteen to twenty minutes suits most home games. Ten to twelve minutes makes a turbo, and twenty to twenty-five minutes suits a deep stack night. Levels under ten minutes rarely work in a self-dealt game, because you lose too many hands to shuffling.
How many chips should everyone start with?
Think in big blinds rather than chips. Forty to sixty big blinds makes a quick sit-and-go, seventy-five to a hundred is a standard home tournament, and a hundred and fifty to two hundred is a deep stack.
How fast should blinds go up?
Between twenty-five and fifty per cent a level for most games. This calculator works the rate out for you from how long you want to play, rather than asking you to pick one, and tells you what it landed on.
